I had worked for many contractors prior to starting NPC. One thing that I had noticed is how little attention was paid to the customers needs. I often wondered how these contractors stayed in business. I often heard the voice of the customer- complaining of poor customer service. The paint crews were late. There were fewer painters than promised. The jobs took longer than expected. The smallest change to the scope resulted in a big overcharge and an even bigger inconvenience to the customer. The painters had little or no training in taking care of the customer.
I will never forget the day I was working on a customer’s house when the customer came home. I was painting the upstairs hallway and the other painters were painting the living room. She was upset with the progress of the crew. She asked the lead man why the progress was so slow. He shrugged his shoulders. Then she noticed paint splatter on the T.V. and on her curtains and sofa. She say’s“why are you not covering my furniture?” She then went into the back room to call the boss. The lead man began imitating her voice and with a whine he says why are you not covering my sofa! Why is it taking so long! The other painter starts laughing and loudly repeats her complaints. She overhears the laughter from the back room. The woman calls her husband to come home and stays in her bedroom out of fear. The lead man tells me that he and his buddy are going to meet the boss for lunch. Since I am new on the job I decide to stay and try to clean up their mess. The husband comes home and begins directing me to clean up. Loudly he voices his displeasure with the quality of the paint job. Finally the lead man, painter and boss show up to address the complaints. With a slur in his voice and bloodshot eyes the boss tries to explain the mess. He becomes angry when the husband does not back down. The boss blurts out “I don’t need this job. We are out of here” The lead man grabs his tools, leaving the paint buckets and insults the husband as he walks out. Embarrassed I did my best to clean up. The husband and I talked for the next couple of hours. He kept telling me that the when he hired the painter he expected more. Professional service with attention to detail. We ended up agreeing for me to complete the work. I had just sold my first job!
My experience as a painter has taught me not only how to apply paint coatings but how to manage customers as well. There is a glaring lack of customer service by many of the contactors I had worked for and in the paint industry itself. I thought of how I could start a better painting company than what is out there. A painting company that takes care of their customers! A painting company that the customer can depend on. A painting company that does quality work. A painting company that serves their customers.

National Painting Company steadily grew from a one-man operation. We became a force in the local painting market. We worked for many general contractors. I noticed that many of the general contractors also lacked the customer service that we had grown accustom to providing. I felt that we could expand into general contracting and succeed through the same ideals that National Painting Company was originally founded on.
In 2004 National Painting Company became a General Contractor. In 2006 a good customer needed someone they could depend on. Someone they could trust. They called National Painting Company and in 2006 we entered the El Paso market. Dependable, Quality, Service that is what we offer.
